Despite the cold and rainy weather during the 9 consecutive days of Chinese New Year holiday this year, a huge influx of people and vehicles had swamped into the Nantou County, a city which put great efforts to promote tourism. Among this county’s various beautiful sight scene sports, the Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village in YuChih Village and the cherry blossom as well as the cable car in Sun Moon Lake had attracted 90,000 and 170,000 tourists respectively. The tourism business was bustling during the New Year festival. According to Tourism Department statistics, from February 13 to 21 of the Chinese New Year holiday period, there were a total of about 185 passengers visited various attractions in Nantou County. The Chi-Nan temple, according to its staffs’ calculation, had attracted over 700 thousand tourists, ranking all attraction of the crown.
  In previous years, Chi-Chi, a town which is full of the taste of traditional, had often been one the most popular attraction for “Spring Course”. This year, the "Local Lantern Festival" , hosted by Chichi with a symbol of the Tiger Year presented by the main light of golden Tiger and various lanterns with rich subjects , had attracted a total of over 19 million attendances in this holiday. There were also many tourist appreciating the sand works under umbrella in sand sculpture festival held from February 7 to 28 in Nantou city. Being carefully maintained by Sand Sculpture artist Song-Guan Wang’s team , the lifelike works and wealthily stage performances of sand sculptures had gained the tourists’ confirmations. According to its service counter’s statistics, this activity had drawn a record of 15,000 passengers in each of the first two days of this festival.
  The Chung Tai Chan Monastery is the most popular attraction to mainland Chinese tourists in addition to Sun Moon Lake. In this festival period, this temple had been visited in a daily average of more than 200 buses and 1,200 minibuses, an initial estimate that there were nearly ten thousand passengers a day, a total of about 13 thousands tourists. In Checheng of Shueili Town, there were 57 thousands passengers, while in Shi-Tou of Lugu Township, there were visited by 37 thousands tourists.
  In addition, the snowing of Hohuan Mountain led the Taiwan National Highway No. 6 and Taiwan 14 line to crowd with a larger number of cars to enjoy the snowing scene, and Chingjing Farm during the holiday was also rushed into 48 thousand passengers.
  Of this county the Sou-Ten Temple of Songboling in Ming-Gen township and Gi-Nan Temple in Chushan, both two temples are routinely visited by many incense tourisms during the period of new year holiday, attracted a total of 263 pilgrims worshiping to Sou-Ten Temple , while a total of 700 thousands to Gi-Nan Temple which is famous for borrowing the rich capital, ranking the highest of all attractions.
