Before the eve of Chinese New Year, in the company of the head of Social Affairs Department Jun-Pin Hsiung and Puli township chief Yi-Hsiung Chou, Magistrate Lee visited the Pu-li Christian Long-Term Care Home of Rehoboth Welfare Foundation, Jia-Nan Care Home and Xuan-Kuan Care Home. He gave each resident there 600 NT dollars and wished them a great year of the rabbit. He also expressed his sincere appreciation for those who work there to take care of the residents.
In addition to money, to make sure the residents did get some joyful festival feelings, each one was given a box of Chung-Liao oranges from the County Government and some special healthy cookies were given by Su-Duan Chien, the chairman of Nantou Affiliate of the National Womans League.
Magistrate Lee said that Nantou is not only full of beautiful landscapes, but also of friendly people. All these social welfare institutes are of good quality and take care of old people who have no other family support, and people with handicaps. Hopefully more people will pay more attention to those who are in need.
Magistrate Lee and his company visited Pu-li Christian Long-Term Care Home first. He was welcomed by the residents and he sang two songs to entertain them. He got great appluse for his beautiful voice. The 102 years old lady Ms. Hsu-Yuan Chiang was still able to clap her hands so loudly that people were amazed at how strong she was. Magistrate Lee wished them great happiness and a long life.
Magistrate Lee later visited Jia-Nan Care Home and Xuan-Kuan Care Home where he also received a heart warming welcome. Many residents wanted to shake his hand and take photos with him. His visit to Xuan-Kuan Care Home was more special because of the gifts he received, such as the self planted vegetables by the Director Wen-Chung Lee who taught the kids there how to grow vegetables, and the hand made soap by the 12 years old Hsiu-Hua Chen who needs special education. The guests were charmed by her sweetness. Magistrate Lee praised the care home for not only taking care of them, but for also equipping them with some skills.
