Secretary of Zhejiang Province Mr. Hong-Zhu Zhao led the group to visit Nantou on May 29. Following witnessing the signing of cooperation treaty between several companies, Mr. Zhao visited Tai Yi Ecological Leisure Farm with Magistrate Lee and CEO of the farm Mr. Kou-Chen Zhang in order to know more about the agriculture situation of Nantou County. He was very impressed by the development strategy which covers production, life and ecology.
  The group consisted of 80 members. They received warm welcome from Magistrate Lee and his wife, ex-chief of Council of Agriculture Mr. Ming-Hsien Sun and several representatives from Nantou County. Magistrate Lee introduced not only the characteristics of Nantou County geology and products such as tea, but also the history of the interaction between Nantou and Zhejiang. Magistrate Lee mentioned that Sun-Moon Lake and West Lake are sister lakes. Chung Tai Chan Monastery and Hangzhou Lingyin Tempel are sister temples. Many Nantou townships, academic and art worlds all have intensive contacts with Zhejiang. Last year there were more than 180,000 visitors coming from Zhejiang to Nantou. Other counties in Taiwan really envy Nantou for this. Magistrate Lee emphasized that the frequent interactions have helped both sides to prosper. Hopefully the treaty of cooperation will also help the agriculture area to have a better future.
  Mr. Hong-Zhu Zhao mentioned that the main purpose of visiting Taiwan was to enhance cultural interaction in areas of art, buddhism, creativity, foods and Chinese medicine. The visit to Nantou enriched the whole trip. He was very happy that Nantou and Zhejiang have a very strong connection. He felt extremely at home in Nantou. Other than 3 links – post, transportation and trade, there is one more link – heart!
  The treaty was signed by Nantou County Farmer's Association, Nantou Agriculture Integration and Marketing Ltd, Tien-Fong Tea Ltd, Taiwan Leisure Farming Development Association, Gao-Chi Food Ltd and 5 agriculture companies from Zhejiang. Mr. Zhao, Magistrate Lee and Vice Magistrate Chen were the witnesses. There are differences between Zhejiang and Nantou and they are also complementary to each other. There is enough space for further interaction and cooperation. This treaty is to facilitate the cooperation in terms of logistics, marketing, product safety and agriculture management.
