Litchis and pineapples are the seasonal fruits of Nantou in June and July every year. Nantou County especially arranged the ‘2012 Nantou County Litchi and Pineapple Festivals’ at Chung Hsing New Village Children's Park on June 16th. Hosted by Magistrate Lee Chao-ching; the event attracted a lot of people. Magistrate Lee passionately invited everyone to come to Nantou and enjoy the fresh seasonal litchi and pineapple as well as related products.

  Magistrate Lee said that litchi and pineapple are in-season in June and July; every year, the county government will be hosting Lychee and Pineapple Festivals to promote them. Nantou’s lychee, mostly produced in Nantou City, Tsaotun Town, and Jiji Town, Zhongliao Township. The cultivars are generally Heiye, Nuomizi, and Yuhebao. While Nantou’s pineapples are quality, cultivars including Jingzuan, Mibao, Tianmimi, and Kaiying No.2. Each cultivar is of a unique flavor, juicy and delicious. This year, Heiye accounted for approximately 90 percent of the total yield. Nuomi is approximately 10 to 20 percent; if you want to buy then you’d better hurry up! In addition, the cultivars of pineapples are abundant, and are produced in Ming-chien and Nantou City. Every Farmers' Association and civic group has been highly promoting pineapple cakes; even the President of Taiwan gives out pineapple cakes to foreign guests as souvenirs.

  Vice Magistrate Chen Chi-ching, County Counselor and chairman of County Farmers' Association, Tsai Min-yuan, Director of Agriculture Department, Chen Chao-wang, Director of Administration Department, Chiang Chun-pei, and Nantou City Mayor Hsu Shu-hua also took part in this event. Magistrate Lee also invited all guests to speak about Nantou’s quality pineapples and lychees, making everyone enthusiastic about them. During the event, there were also Sichuan Opera face changing performances, Drum performances by the Jenho Community and the Lion dance troupe, as well as magic performances. There were also various agricultural products displayed which were for sale, which were of particular appeal to visiting tourists .The event was very lively.

  2012 Nantou County Lychee and Pineapple Festivals kicked off on June 16th and was hosted at Hsing New Village on June 16th and 17th at Chung Hsing New Village Chinchin Park on June 23rd and 24th, at Shenkeng District, New Taipei City on June 26th and 27th and at Yilan’s Farmer’s Assn, at Taiwan Fresh Supermarket Taichun Liming Branch on July 7th ; at Jiji Station on July 7th and 8th, at Art Garden Section D, Taichun City, on July 14th and 15th , as well as months of promotion and marketing events, helping farmers to sell and display lychee, pineapples and processed products as well as high quality agricultural products.
