2008 Nantou Water Bamboo Festival grand opening at Puli Floral center on August 30th. On the date there are lots of important person participants, secretary of Nantou county government, Chen Chang-Shan, county councilor, Wu Kau-Cheng, Chow Yi-Syong, Chief Director of Puli Farmers' Association, Lin Shie-Feng, Legislator Wu Dun-Yi's wife Tsai Ling-Yi, Deputy Director of AFA Chen Tsun-Ho. The General Director of Puli Farmers' Association Ho Shie-Hung invites all board of generals to costume themselves with shell of water bamboo as God of Farmers. And, announced the festival began by the Chief secretary Chen to knock the Phonelo three times.   Chief secretary Chen says, Nantou County is famous of beautiful sunshine, fresh air, and clean water. These excellent conditions are helping Nantou to create a better agricultural business than other counties. Especially, the quality of water bamboo produced from Puli, is not just famous around Taiwan Island, but also export to Japan, mainland China. The idea to hold the water bamboo festival is started by Magistrate Lee last year to promote the water bamboo with farmers together. Actually, the county government also holds ChungLiao Longan Festival, Flora Carnival to improve county agricultural development.   During the activity, there are lots of talent shows presented by Puli Farmers' Association, Home Economics classes, Men-Huei Dace Club, Aboriginal Folk Dace, Chi Nan Elementary school Drum orchestra. Especially, the Drum Orchestra from Chi Nan Elementary School are won lota of big hands because their performance. Also, in order to the water bamboo has a lot of benefits, and usages, the chief secretary Chen personally complete the water bamboo puzzle, and it is a very outstanding, and unique picture that we use the shell to made the logo of Nantou County.   The general Director lead the farmers to wear the clothes made of water bamboo shells to act like the Farmers' God, also invite the chief secretary to dance together. Since the festival began, the decorated vehicles are driving alone the downtown in Puli. Every vehicle sat a Farmers' God decorated with water bamboo, which catch people's eyes at that date.
