In the 2009 appraisal on plans and budget execution over 20 counties and cities of Taiwan Province by Central Government, Nantou scored higher than 80 points in 4 perspectives and is ranked as excellent together with other counties, including Yilan County and won additional subsidy of NT$12 million from Central Government for general infrastructure. In total, Nantou has been granted with NT$125 million subsidy for general infrastructure construction. It is great.
  Chief of Statistics and Budget of County Government, Mr. Cheng Chun-Fu said that in the past, Nantou had been unable to reach 80 points in all the appraisal perspectives, we received compromised subsidy in general infrastructure facilities. Mr. Cheng said, County Government made a review and reconsidered again and again, the skill in budgeting is becoming more and more proficient and Magistrate Li paid special attention to the execution of budget and asked for better efficiency. With the joint effort of all units of County Government, a giant progress was gained. This is the first time ever the budget appraisal system to have increased subsidy in general infrastructure.
  Department of Statistics and Budgets pointed out that there are Social Welfare, Education, Infrastructure and Finance / Administration Proficiency, total 4 perspectives in this appraisal of Central Government. The result is linked closely to the subsidies to general infrastructure. Take this year for example, in the 20 counties and cities placed under appraisal, only Yilan, Taoyuan, Hualian and Keelung and Nantou were scored to or higher than 80 points and are eligible for increased subsidies.
  The appraisal of Central Government focused on 2 fields - the budgeting/ execution and field appraisal. The items included in the appraisal including Water Administration, Vehicle Replacement, Subsidies to Private Bodies, Financial Health, Performance in Increasing Source and Cutting Waste, Student Physical check and Skill and Craft Education of Junior High School. Nantou County Government, in addition to advocating for source expanding and waste cutting, has been holding meeting to review of the administration to report the control and execution of subsidies. With the efforts of all related units, it is finally become true that good performance is reached and the subsidy is increased.
