'It is said that when the fairies were called back by Yu Huang Da Di, they shed two tears because they were reluctant to leave. One tear fell in Sun-Moon Lake and the other tear fell in Jing-Yue Lake....' County Magistrate Chao-Chin Li talked about the lot these two lakes shared and expected the interaction between these two lakes can facilitate the development of the areas around the lakes, so the people can benefit.
Recently there has been many interactions between Nantou County and Chiang-Chun City of Ji-Lin province of China. Since both areas have lakes, Nantou County particularly invited the Vice Mayor Shue-Chan Wang leading a group of people to attend the maiden voyage of Jin-Yue Lake Jacht in Sun-Moon Lake. County Magistrate Li and Vice Mayor Wang together poured some water from Jing Yue Lake to Sun-Moon Lake. The mix of water from the two lakes symbolized the friendly relationship between Nantou County and Chang-Chun city. Finally they got on Jing-Yue Lake Jacht together to appreciate the beautiful landscape around Sun-Moon Lake.
The opening ceremony of the maiden voyage started with the powerful and beautiful performance of the aboriginal dance group Yuan Wu Workshop. Vice Mayor Wang and his group were also encouraged by County Magistrate Li and the dancers to get on the stage to dance together. The atmosphere was very joyful.
During his speech, County Magistrate Li mentioned that in April, a travel agreement was signed between Nantou County and Chang-Chun city. In June, he led a group of township chiefs to Chang-Chun City to promote tourism and agriculture for Nantou. These two areas have become Sister Cities, and Sun-Moon Lake and Jing-Yue Lake have also become Sister Lakes. Vice Mayor Wang paid a return visit to strengthen this friendly relationship. Hopefully the tourism development on both side will be prosperous, and both sides will have more interactions and cooperations in education, culture and agriculture and will both book more progress.
Vice Mayor Wang also pointed out that it is very meaningful that both lakes are now Sister Lakes. He was excited and moved when he poured the water of Jing-Yue Lake into Sun Moon Lake. He thanked County Magistrate Li for visiting Chang-Chun City in June. The bridge of friendship was therefore formed. He also expected that both sides would make the best use of its own advantages and the interactions between them to develop its own industries and create a mutually beneficial and win-win situation.
