As the weather got colder, the annual Nantou Hot Spring Season officially started on the 19th of November at the Solas Resort which is beside Liyutan in Puli. On the day of the opening, with the Cycling and Puli Hot Spring Tour hosted by Nantou Cycling Association, many people were attracted to experience Puli hot spring. Magistrate Lee and his wife were also there at the opening ceremony to recommend Nantou hot spring and welcome everyone to Nantou to enjoy delicious food and tea.

  While giving a brief speech, Magistrate Lee stated that there are abundant hot spring resources in Puli Town, Nangang River and Beigang River of Guoxin Township and Dongpu of Xinyi Township. Most of them are carbonic acid hot springs that can promote blood circulation and is benefit to health. Lushan Hot Spring in particular had the good name of World’s First Hot Spring in the past for which the excellent quality of Nantou hot spring is implied. Thus, the county government holds the Nantou Hot Spring Season every year to urge people to soak in the hot spring in Nantou while appreciating different culture and food.

  This year’s Hot Spring Season officially began in Liyutan Scenic Area of Puli as it has the reputation of “Small Xihu.” With the specialty product of Puli and using the name of “Flower Hot Spring,” it was free for the public to soak in the hot spring on the day of the opening and everyone was given a Hot Spring Fortune Bag. It was a really great deal. On the 26th of November, the Hot Spring Season activity was moved to the Atayal Resort located in Beigang and Nangang River Hot Spring Area. Along the way, people can visit Huisun Forestry Station and Alang Gluban and explore the culture of Seediq Bale while immersing in the forest before leaving to Nangang and Beigang River to soak in the hot spring. It can be said to be the great enjoyment one can have once in the life time.

  The last but the best activity of this year’s Hot Spring Season was held in the Dongpu Hot Spring Area, located at the foot of Yushan, on the 3rd of December. The activities included the most popular Bathrobe Parade and the Bunun's eight-part polyphony. On the opening days of the three main hot spring areas, Golden Melody winner Wang Hongen, Indigenous diva Wu Yifan and Super idol Zhu Lijing were invited to perform in the respective ceremony. As well as enjoying in the warm winter hot spring tour, people can appreciate the live performances of singers with real singing skills. The activities were interesting and fun.

  For the Nantou Hot Spring Season in Puli Township, “I Play Slow – Puli Intellectual Tour Series” was used as the main theme. Around 600 cyclists departed Puli Town Office early in the morning, bypassed Chung Tai Chan Monastery and arrived at the Solas Resort. On the day, free Hot Spring Fortune Bags were distributed and free hot spring was provided for a certain number of people which attracted many hot spring enthusiasts to participate in the event. Six-gun salute was sounded to announce the official opening of the Hot Spring Season.
