On 19th of June, He-Nan Province Governor Guo Geng-Mao led a group to visit Pu-Li to begin agricultural purchasing and exchanging activities. Accompanied by Magistrate Lee, they put the agricultural products on the trucks and announced the export of Nan-Tou Countys agricultural products to He-Nan has officially started. Magistrate Lee pointed out that the 1 billion population in He-Nan Province means the market is quite large and believed exporting Nan-Tous agricultural products to China means better future prospect.
In the morning of the 19th of June, Province Governor and a group of more than 50 guests arrived in Pu-Li Farmers Association Flora Logistics Center and took a few looks at the agricultural products and the facilities in the Center, accompanied by Magistrate Lee. Later, as witnessed by both parties, a partnership contract was signed by He Shi-Hong, Secretary General of Pu-Li Farmers Association, and Song Yan, Mayor of Tang-Zhuang Town in Xin-Xiang City of He-Nan. The agreements made by both parties in terms of promoting agricultural exchange and cooperation between Taiwan and mainland China include: Promote the complementary of each others agricultural resource advantage and the effective utilization of agricultural resources; Promote the circulation and marketing of agricultural products; Enhance the exchange and cooperation for the quality and safe control of agricultural products; Enhance the exchange and cooperation of agricultural management; Establish agricultural exchange and cooperation activities in Taiwan and mainland China at appropriate times etc.
Magistrate Lee and Province Governor Guo put the agricultural products on the trucks and announced the export of Nan-Tou Countys agricultural products to He-Nan has officially started. The first lots of agricultural products purchased by the Province Governor included NT$1.6 million worth of products such as water bamboo instant noodle and Rose & Sugar Cane Liquor.
Province Governor Guo said that he was born a farmer and had special affections toward farmers, agriculture and villages. As He-Nan is in the temperate zone and Nan-Tou is in the tropical zone, the agricultural products in these two places are quite different. He-Nan in particular has a population of 1 billion which means the market is huge. He hoped the agricultural trade between He-Nan and Nan-Tou can be enhanced to bring more agricultural products in Nan-Tou to He-Nan.
Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Ltd. CEO Guo Tai-Ming was also there to support and back up the partnership. He said, I am a son-in-law of Nan-Tou and Province Governor is a good friend of mine. It is a great step forward after the agricultural exchange and cooperation partnership contract was signed and that it is great the cross-strait agricultural exchange started in Nan-Tou.
He also pointed out that Province Governor told him that the first lots of agricultural products bought in Nan-Tou were not enough and the Governor hoped a permanent organization could be established in the future to carry out agricultural products purchasing. He believed Province Governor Guo is a man of his words and this trip to Nan-Tou was not a show. Guo Tai-Ming is willing to volunteer with Magistrate Lee to market Nan-Tous agricultural products, such as tea, to China.
