On holidays tourists are everywhere at the scenic spots in Nantou. After the 921 earthquake, local residents kept working with the government for continual reconstruction. At last, tourists were once again attracted to Nantou. In 2003, the number of tourists exceeded 7 million, which was even more than the 3.2 million tourists who visited in 1998, the year before the earthquake. In addition to the superb natural landscape, there is a new spirit of strength and vitality that was added after the catastrophe. Currently, there are six major tourist routes in Nantou that provide opportunities for tourists to appreciate the nature and enjoy the hospitality of local residents. Local people integrate a rich variety of products and unique folk culture by offering ten types of special local delicacies and over 183 hostels for overnight visitors (up to Nouember 2004). At one time, tourists may experience great food, views and hospitality. Nantou is a beautiful place where you can slow down, relax, become carefree and fall in love with the beauty of it all.
