Under the coordination of legislators and county councilors, Nantou, Changhua County Government and Chang Hua Bus have cooperated to extend the route of the Bus No. 17 (between Changhua to downtown Caotun) to the campus of NKUT. When witnessing the launch of the route on behalf of County Magistrate Lin Ming-Chen, Deputy County Magistrate Chen Cheng-Sheng of Nantou County said that the integration of this cross-regional bus service wasn’t easy. The service has benefited more than 1,000 students at NKUT and other schools, and allowed more residents living in the Caotun “Lu Tung” area to make use of it. The county government will continue to make breakthroughs in promoting similar value-added service integration of public transportation.

The opening ceremony was held at the square in front of Pu Hua Building of NKUT on the morning of the 12th. Vice President Lin Yen-Cheng of NKUT, Deputy County Magistrate Chen Cheng-Sheng of Nantou County, Deputy County Magistrate Hung Jung-Chang of Changhua County, Legislator Hsu Shu-Hua, Chairman Huang Chin-Chun of Chang Hua Bus, County Councilor Tang Hsiao-Fen, the special assistant Li Ming-Liang from Legislator Ma Wen-Chun service office, and more than 10 representatives and chiefs of Caotun Township attended. The ceremony kicked off with a wonderful magic performance by the students to welcome the guests.

The Bus No. 17 of Chang Hua Bus originally only ran from downtown Changhua to Fenyuan Township of Changhua County, and ended at Huide Temple, Taiping Road, downtown Caotun. Vice President Lin Yen-Cheng said that NKUT is about to celebrate the half-century of its establishment this year, and the route extension of the Bus No. 17 of Chang Hua Bus will greatly reduce the traffic safety hazards of students riding scooters to go to school and back home. After the route extension of the Taichung Bus No. 108 to NKUT three years ago, the service will also provide a safer transportation option for most students from Taichung, Changhua, and Nantou to go to and from school.
