連至 Nantou County Government receives positive feedback for helping older adults aged 66 with vaccination registration, August 21 完整照片 As some older adults have troubles using the Internet to register for vaccination on the platform, Nantou County Magistrate Lin Ming-Chen has instructed the Health Bureau to frequently make an inventory of vaccine and adopt a method based on the age with accurate registration and sufficient vaccine supply, so as to increase vaccination coverage in Nantou County and protect older adults from being infected. From August 19 to August 21, large-scale vaccination stations have been set up continually at the public health centers and the communities of 13 townships and cities for older adults aged 66 (or indigenous people aged 56) to get vaccinated. It is expected that the vaccination coverage in older adults aged 66 (and indigenous people aged 56) will rise to more than 30% after the vaccination this time.

In the morning of the 21st, Deputy County Magistrate Chen Cheng-Sheng and Deputy Director-general Wu Mei-Ling of the Health Bureau went to the large-scale vaccination station at the Zhangxing Elementary School in Nantou City to learn about the vaccination status. People are satisfied with the vaccination procedure and service. Deputy County Magistrate Chen appreciates medical workers for providing vaccination service to the public even if they have to do it in the weekend.

Chen says the census shows that there are 7,040 people aged 66 in Nantou. However, due to the insufficient vaccine supply in Taiwan and the hardship of using the Internet to register on the platform for most older adults, the data on the National Immunization Information System shows that there are still 4,057 people aged 66 in Nantou who haven’t taken the shot, accounting for about 57.62% (excluding those with household registrations in Nantou but living in other cities or counties). To increase vaccination coverage, reduce the risk of being infected among various groups, and cope with the problem of using the COVID-19 Vaccination Registration and Appointment Reservation Platform for some older adults, the county government continues to call for the public to comply with the central government’s policy to register and make an appointment for vaccination on the platform. In addition, under the instruction of County Magistrate Lin, the county government makes an inventory of vaccine and strives for sufficient vaccine supply based on the principle of not wasting any dosage of vaccine, as well as sending vaccination notice with the assistance of the heads of each township, village, and neighborhood, to carry out an accurate vaccination registration.
