    In memory of the martyrs, officers and soldiers who died in the line of duty, the county government organized the “Autumn 2020 Public Memorial Ceremony for Martyred Soldiers, Officers and Civilians in the Wars and Martyred Soldiers of Nantou County in the line of Duty” on Armed Forces Day on September 3. Secretary-General Hung Jui-chih hosted the ceremony on behalf of the county mayor Lin Ming-zhen and led representatives from all walks of life in Nantou County to burn incense and pay their respects at the Martyrs' Shrine. The ceremony was solemn and respectful.

    The Autumn 2020 Public Memorial Ceremony was held in the Martyrs’ Shrine in Nantou County. Secretary-General Hung Jui-chih served as the officiator, the county council director Liang Ching-tsung served as the ceremonial supervisor and the county councilor Tseng Chen-yen, the director of Civil Affairs Department of the county government Wu Yen-ling, the mayor of Jiji Township Chen Chi-heng and others attended the ceremony, as well as representatives of the Nantou County Reserve Command, Nantou County Veterans Affairs Council, township and city offices, county government units, Nantou County military service office and schools at all levels.

    “Martyrs’ deeds for the country and the people was recorded in history, their virtue and courage were as glorious as mountains and rivers.” County Mayor Lin Ming-zhen specially presented the elegiac couplet at the Autumn Memorial Ceremony. On behalf of County Mayor Lin Ming-zhen, Secretary-General Hung Jui-chih burned incense and offered flowers, tea and fruit in accordance with the ceremony. The ceremony came to an end after everyone reading the ceremonial message and bowing three times to the memorial portrait. Secretary-General Hung and the attendees shook hands with the representatives of the bereaved to express their condolences. The ceremony was simple and solemn.
