    The 2016 Lohas Nantou 139 Cycling Challenge Race was held in front of the Chung Hsing Assembly Hall on Nov. 20th. After CM Lin Ming-Chen, Nantou City Mayor Sung Huai-Lin, and County Council Member Tseng Chen-Yen and Chang Wei-Hua fired a gun in the air, 800 racers coming from all over this country rushed out of the starting line and began the 93.9 km challenge race at full speed. The race route stretches across 6 townships and cities including Pingding in Caotun Township, Zhongliao Township, Jiji Green Tunnel, Songboling in Mingjian Township and Fenyuan Township in Changhua County.

    CM Lin said that Route139 belongs to a high-intermediate level race route with longer mileage, which can be quite challenging for the racers to test their endurance and physical strength. The racers can also enjoy the beautiful scenery along the race route in Nantou, and it is confirmed that the City Mayor Sung held this race to promote the local economy in Nantou through marketing. Cycling was made to be a very good sport to exercise the body and the mind. It is hoped that the sport culture can be promoted among the general public because a healthy body is the foundation of a happy family so the government wished to call on everyone to play sports or do the exercise all together.

    To supplement and improve the physical strength of the racers, the organizers prepared some Nantou Style Egg-Noodles at the final stop for the racers to taste after the race. City Mayor Sung said there are plenty of tourist scenic spots in the suburban area near Nantou City such as Jhongsing Village, Green Tunnel, Songboling and Nantou Sky Bridge. The Township Office had held the event and received positive feedback last year. This year, it held the 2nd round event by enlarging the scope of the race route from the previous 50km to the current 93.9km. It is hoped that this can be a chance to promote business opportunities in Nantou Cities and improve the sports trend in nearby counties and cities. The racers who joined this time and community clubs from all over the places came and responded to this event, which shows that a cycling race is very popular among the general public since the race route has been connected to the roadside landscaping. Everyone was invited to go on a city tour in Nantou to enjoy the street view and scenic spots after the race.
