Winter Love Donation Event to show you care: 527 households benefit from 5,000 catty-weight of white rice and $NT 1.65 million through crowdfunding
The county government and the Nantou County Community Service Center held a love donation event in winter to show their care for the need in winter on Jan. 7th, the day of the winter solstice, at the county Women and Children Affairs Building. CM Lin, Ming-Chen and Legislator Ma, Wen-Chun went to give away the Chinese New Year red envelopes and white rice to everyone on site. They also gave thanks to the donation money with $NT 1.65 million they gathered from 230 charity groups and kind-hearted people through crowdfunding in addition to the 5,000 catty-weight of white rice they received. There are 527 households with families from minority groups who can benefit from the donation. It allows families from minority groups to have fun and enjoy the Chinese New Years holidays.

The proposed event started when CM Lin served as the Chairman of Community Service Center. The event has been held in a consecutive 5 years. Each year many individuals, groups, enterprises, temples, and kind-hearted people were called upon to join the event. There were 230 charity groups joining the event. CM Lin gave away a Certificate of Recognition to the contributed groups and individuals, who showed a caring heart.

CM Lin said that the event to “show loving concern for others in winter and pass on the love to everyone by the end of the year” started to receive application since 2013. It focuses on those from marginal households who cannot receive subsidy from the government. To handle the event to show loving concern for others in winter, many kind-hearted friends with a loving heart would come and join the event each year to show their concerns to the families from the minority groups. The event did not stop until today. The resources gathered from crowdfunding increase year after year, and the families benefitting from the resources have increased in number, which is quite significant. Hopefully, more people from society can be inspired by such act to break the ice through the event. More people with a loving heart can work together to take care of those in need so that friends from minority groups can feel warm because of the social bond.

Chairman of Community Service Center Wang, Jui-Chen said that from the donation they gathered through crowdfunding and the white rice they received this time, each household would receive NT$3,000 as the financial back-up fund and 9kg of white rice from the distribution. The families benefitting from this event have increased in number from the early 500 households to the 527 households this year. It allows the families from minority groups to have a warm Chinese New Year. Hopefully, there will be more kind-hearted people or groups to join the event, and help more families in need from the minority groups. This year, CM Lin went to distribute resources himself in Nantou City. As for the other 12 townships and villages, the Community Service Center offers the warm service to deliver the resources they need to their homes respectively. CM Lin wanted to say thank you to everyone from all circles or religious groups to come and join the event.

Legislator Hsu, Shu-Hua and Legislator Ma also agreed and said that the Community Service Center focuses on the minority groups on weekdays to show its concern to them, and cares for everything they need. Although the economic climate is not good this year, people from all circles of society are still passionate about showing concerns to others. This event has generated a lot of attention from all circles, which allows it to carry on and pass on the love. The contributors with a loving heart can inspire others so much.
