    The 35th Sun Moon Lake International Cross-Lake Swim Carnival with more than 10,000 participants took place on 23rd and 24th attracting 1,858 swimming teams and a total of 19,862 swimmers around the world to participate. On 24th from 7am, 243 swimmers with disabilities started the swimming race; at 8am, all the swimmers started the swimming race one after one. There’s a 3km straight line over the lake with spectacular scene. This year, the County Magistrate Lin Ming-chen also led 42 office colleagues to challenge the swimming race and finished the route in 3 hours and 6 minutes. He was really delightful that he could be the first County Magistrate successfully crossing the Sun Moon Lake.

    On 23rd, The 3rd Sun Moon Lake Open Water Swimming Contest took place in Sun Moon Lake. The Competition Category was held in the Idashaw water area by two groups, 10 km marathon and 5km. The Swimmer Zhuo Cheng-qi who participated the 28th Universiade won the first place in the 5km group for the third time after the last two years. This year, he won the championship with a time of 1:44:37 in the 10km marathon group and the prize money NT20,000. In the Women’s group, Zheng Jie-juan won the first place with a time of 2:58. The 5km Man’s group, Tseng Kai-wen won the 1st place with the time of 53:14, and Huang Min-hua won the 1st place with the time of 1:04:56.

    On the 24th, the Mass Release of Young Fish by the president was the opening for the activity. The VIP guests including the former President Ma Ying-jeou, the former Vice President Wu Dun-yi, the County Magistrate Lin Ming-chen, the Deputy County Magistrate Chen Zheng-sheng, the Deputy County Magistrate of Miaoli County Deng Gui-ju, and director of Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area Administration Hung Wei-hsin released the young fish with the students of Mingtan Elementary School at Sheshui Warf. It was the symbol for the endless ecological resource of the reservoir. Right after the activity, he headed for the opening at Chaowu warf to encourage the swimmers. And at 8:16, after the starting pistol, the County Magistrate Mr. Lin and the former President Mr. Ma started swimming for the cross-lake challenge.

    The County Magistrate said that he is the first Nantou County Magistrate successfully swimming across Sun Moon Lake. He felt great significant and unforgettable about his historic record, and expected that next year, no matter the member of the county government or the citizens should find their courage to register the swim carnival for a challenge with confidence. Swimming in such a clean, comfortable and beautiful lake is really a comfortable and enjoyable pleasure.
