Debut of “Listen to folk songs and enjoy a great mood – Traffic safety promotion” campaign – Thousands of people attended the event with enthusiasm
The “Listen to folk songs and enjoy a great mood – Traffic safety promotion” folk song concert once again proved to be extremely popular this year. In the evening of October 8, more than 6,000 people flocked to Zhongxing New Village field to listen to the concert, and the stairs next to the field were also packed with people, creating a buzzing scene that eclipsed last year. County Magistrate Ming-chen Lin attended the event with County Government officials to enjoy a night of folk songs in the autumn evening breeze.

According to County Magistrate Lin, extra attention was paid in organizing this year’s event, inviting Hsiao-jung Shih, Ching-chun Hsu, Chao-mei Tai, Jui-yu Wang, Yao-tung Yang and the Qingyun Folk Song Ensemble to present the wonderful era of folk song to the audience. It is hoped that the public will be able to raise their awareness regarding traffic safety and protect the safety of their lives and properties amid the splendid program, and melodious music.

County Magistrate Lin pointed out that the County Government is endeavoring to promote traffic safety in order to protect people’s lives and properties. In 2016, the MOTC “Improvement Program for Traffic Order and Safety” evaluation, Nantou County received 1st place in Group 3 in terms of the group’s overall score. This is attributed to the efforts of county citizens in minding traffic safety and observing traffic regulations. Since Nantou County’s population consists of mostly senior citizens, County Magistrate Lin has appealed to the citizens to pay more attention to the more senior members of their family and remind them not to drive a car or rider a motorcycle on their own. When leaving home for exercising early in the morning or at night, please do wear vibrantly colored clothing and make sure traffic regulations are heeded, so that they can cherish their lives and prevent accidents from occurring.

The concert kicked off with a traffic safety promotion and pop quiz to liven up the atmosphere, followed by classic folk songs from Qingyun Folk Song Ensemble. Starting from 18:00, renowned folk song singers Hsiao-jung Shih, Yao-tung Yang, Shu-chin Tseng, Jui-yu Wang, Chao-mei Tai, and Ching-chun Hsu will take turns to perform over 20 popular folk songs to take the audience down the folk song memory lane to experience the golden era once again. As the audience sang and danced along to the music, the final chorus brought cries of encore, creating an emotional ambiance. The enthralling folk song night gradually drew to a conclusion amid the captivating melodies on the stage.
