    The ceremony for the activation of Caotun Township Water Resource & Recycling Center held by county government took place on December 5th. After the completion of underground sewage system, most of the household sewage from Caotun Township will be carried via exclusive underground sewers toward this center for producing treated wastewater suitable for disposal or application before being discharged to the area of XiChoupi by the advanced system of biological denitrification and phosphorus removal and the eco-friendly UV (Ultraviolet) sanitizer.

    The activation ceremony started with the traditional lion dance followed by the introduction of the center in which County Magistrate Lin Ming-chen; Deputy Chief of Construction and Planning Agency Ministry of the Interior (CPAMI) Yu Wang-sheng; County Council Members including Chien Ching- hsien, Chien Ssu-sheng, Li Chou-chung, Liao Zi-yu, Chien Chun-ting and Huang Wen-chun; the representative of Legislator Ma Wen-chun’s service center; the members of Caotun Township People’s Representative Council and the VIP guests from the local districts attended.

    County Magistrate Lin indicated that this center will be Nantou’s first medium-large wastewater treatment plant. After the connection with Caotun household sewers, it will improve problematic situations, such as faint smells and the mosquitoes and bugs from the combined sewers of household sewage and rainwater runoff, the water quality of rivers, and the sanitary living environment in Caotun Township. In addition, the County government has currently planned the building project of the water resource center in Puli Township and the Jushan Township of Nantou City in the hope of turning Nantou into a capital city with tourist attractions featuring environmental protection.

    Deputy Chief Yu indicated that in order to make the environment a better place, the central government gives full support to the underground sewage construction. This center is facilitated with a higher level system of biological denitrification and phosphorus removal. The system can not only remove the organics in the household sewage, but also effectively reduce the nitrogen phosphorus that causes the oxygen in the river. It’s the more advanced biological equipped in the water resource recycling center of our country.

    The Public Works Department of Nantou County indicated that the capacity of the water resource center is 13 thousand cubic meters per day in the process of household sewage. The center is facilitated with a multitude of equipment, including the noisiest room of aeration blowers, which are facilitated with more advanced sound-absorbing pipes and boards reducing noise transmission to maintain a quiet, restful environment for the residents in the neighborhood. Also, the problem with the faint smells has been taken into consideration in the design, so the equipment for dissolved oxygen and deodorization have been added. Besides, the first stage of constructing Caotun underground water sewage system will be complete in the year of 2020, and will have a capacity of connecting about 9,190 users for enhancing the prevalence rate to 5.26% over the county.
