    The “2017 Flower Carnival in Nantou Gorgeous Samba in Fun Puli” grandly took place in Puli on December 16th. County Magistrate Lin Ming-chen; the Head of Puli Township Chou Yi-hsiung; the County Council Members including Wu Kuo-chang, Liao Chih-cheng, Lin Fang-yu and Wang Tsai-yun; and about 40 teams performing various programs all dressed up with colorful, dazzling costumes in the marching parade with passionate music and dance to turn the Puli street into a fashionable red carpet with prosperity.

    This is the 8th “Gorgeous Samba in Fun Puli” and the event has become an important annual celebration in Nantou. The teams attending the event are from organizations including government departments, schools, communities, clubs, industries, cultural and tourist companies. There are also famous performance teams invited, including the Steel Robot by Nantou Puli Junior High School, the team of heavy motorcycles, CCL team of classic convertible, Monsda dance school, Wuji theatrical troupe, and the flash mob of the 10th Corps Command. Furthermore, a huge array consisting of nearly 2,000 people on the heavy motorcycles and convertibles joined the parade as the guide started from Nanguang Elementary School and marched to the Renai Park. People were crowded for admiring the spectacular scene along the way in a lively and enthusiastic atmosphere.

    The County Magistrate Lin, the Head of Puli Township Mr. Chou and the VIP guests on sites were all dressed as characters from fairy tales, such as the king, prince or princess, and walked in the carnival parade. County Magistrate Lin indicated that more teams participating in the event and the performances becoming more attractive have filled Puli with vitality.

    During the two months of the Flower Carnival, the flowers are blooming all over Nantou County and make the whole winter a floral season. The first activity is the “Gorgeous Samba in Fun Puli”, and the next follow-up activity is the “Searching for Plum Blossom in the Snow (踏雪尋梅)” by Dream works of the mei in Xinyi Township and the “Christmas party in Xinyi”. The “Year-End Party in Cingjing” is scheduled on the 31st in the evening. The “Renai Plum Blossom Festival in Winter” and the “Welcome the new year at the town of orchid, cherry blossom welcome the spring (蘭鄉報歲．櫻紅迎春)” held by the Sun Moon Lake Wenwu Temple are scheduled in January. The “Caopingtou Cherry Blossom Festival--- the Feast of Flower and Tea”, the “Seediq Cherry Blossom Festival”, the “The Cherry Blossom Festival of National Chi Nan University at Sun Moon Lake”, the “Cherry Blossom Festival at Formosan Aboriginal Cultural Village, Taiwan number one cherry blossom night view”, and the “2018 Cherry Blossom and Bamboo Shoot Festival” in Lugu are scheduled in February. In March, there will activities including the “Shanlinxi Peony Flower Festival” and the “Love Purple Lavender at Formosan Aboriginal Cultural Village” for tourists to admire the beauty of flowers from now until March next year.
