The road expansion for the Nantou County Road No. 55: The tour bus can use the route from Jushan to Xiaobantian.
In order to improve the traffic problem on the road from Jushan to Xitou and the road from Jushan to Shanlinxi on the weekends, the County Government spent over 100 million on the road expansion for the Nantou County Road No.55. County Magistrate Lin Min-qin was accompanied by the Members of the County Council Hsu Su-Hsia, Wu Jui-fang and Chien Ssu-sheng, and the Director of the Public Works Department Chen Hsi-wu in the inspection of the current improvement on December 21st. Magistrate Lin indicated that the overall expansion construction is scheduled for completion next year, and the Nantou County Road No.55 will be available for tourists to reach the Lugu Xiao Ban to improve the traffic problem on the weekends.
Nantou County Road No.151 is the main way between Jushan and Lugu, and the traffic is overloaded every holiday. In order to improve the traffic, the County Government has started the road expansion for Nantou County Road No.55 in a total length of 3,413 meters with a width of 10 meters and effective road bed 8 meters in width. It is design as a two-lane way with only one lane in each direction. The construction is divided into 4 work sections including the 1st work section 3K+450m~3K+553m, the 2nd work section 4K+450m~5K+080m, the 3rd work section 8K+000m~8K+180m and the 4th section 8K+ 800m~11K+300m. The construction from the 1st work section to the 3rd section and the 4th section until 10K+915m has been completed.
Magistrate Lin indicated that Nantou County Road No.55 is the alternative route between Xiaobantian and Jushan and its entrance is not far from the Nanyun Interchange. In the past, traffic problems occurred due to an insufficient road width for tour buses making turns. After the expansion, it is available for the tour buses, and a wall anchor has been installed to the mountain for better road safety. In the future, when traffic jams occur on the Nantou County Road No.151, people can take the Nantou County Road No.55 to go up and down the mountains to avoid heavy traffic.
Afterwards, County Magistrate Lin and other Members of County Council Tsai Yi-chu and Wu Jui-fang jointly inspected the wild creeks in the area of Ruishan Alley, Yanshan Village, Jushan Township and the Yuanzhengdinong Road in Guilin Village. Due to the two creeks causing floods to the farmlands and the residences in the rainy season, County Magistrate Lin agreed to construct a protective bank in the length of 30 meters and 3 meters in height, and an open ditch for drainage in the length of 100 meters and 1 meter in width and height to solve the problem of losing farmland and floods.
