    The 2018 Tour De Taiwan started on March 14th from the starting point located in Nantou County. County Magistrate Lin Ming-chen, County Deputy Magistrate Chen Zheng-shen and other distinguished guests started the leading tour circling County Government once, and the race started immediately after the Whistle. There were a total of 200 international bicycle riders who challenged the route of 171 km. Students and the public were cheering for the riders along the way. County Magistrate Lin issued a commemorative souvenir to the champion of the last stage, and he also hoped that Nantou County’s popularity will be boosted by the promotion of this international bicycle racing event.

    Nantou is the 4th stage of the 2018 Tour De Taiwan. County Magistrate Lin gave his oration in appreciation of the Cycling Association for consecutively arranging the event in Nantou County over the past 3 years; it’s hoped that tourism in Nantou will be introduced to the public, and through the livestream broadcast by international sports media, the international popularity of Nantou will be boosted, so more people will get to know about Taiwan. He also hoped that cycling sports will become more popular by holding the international cycling event.

    County Magistrate Lin indicated that the scenery in Nantou County is beautiful and the natural environment is attractive in the surroundings. Riders can enjoy those famous scenic spots along the journey, including Jiji GreenTunnel, Mingtan Dam, Shueili Snake Kiln, Puli Brewery, Taiwan Arts Boulevard, the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute, Sun Moon Lake, etc. It’s believed that with the services and assistance provided by all staff, the nicest racing environment will be presented.

    The Nantou stage was mainly focused on a mountainous route; the route passed through 8 major townships and towns including Nantou City, Mingjian Township, Jiji Town, Shuili Township, Puli Town, Guoxing Township and Caotun Town; the final route was along the Sun Moon Lake Huantan Highway, and the finish line was at the Xiangshan Visitor Center. The total length of the route was 171 km.

    The final result has been released, the individual champion (yellow jersey) is ARASHIRO Yukiya (Japan National Team), Sprinter (green jersey) is AVILA VANEGAS Edwin (Israel Team), Mountain climber (red spotted jersey) is JANSSENS Jimmy (Belgium Cibel Team), and Asia Champion (blue jersey) is ARASHIRO Yukiya. The first rider to pass the finish line was Kam from Australia in the record of 3 hours and 59 minutes, and he is the champion of the Nantou stage. County Deputy Magistrate Chen Zheng-sheng personally went to the finish point at Sun Moon Lake Xiangshan Tourist Center to award the prize and take group photos.
