    The event of “In Spring time we meet Plum Prosperity” took place during The 2018 Nantou Plum Festival became an unprecedented occasion attended by 1,000 people having registered for the event online. Due to the proactive people registering for the event with enthusiasm, the availability of attendance became vacant within a very short time. Consequently, Sinyi Township Farmer’s Association provided extra opportunities for attending the event by on-site registration. On March 25th, there were two additional sessions held for on-site registered participants. There was a total of 1,500 people hand-making pickled plums together. On the event day, the weather was sunny and hot, the passion of making plums became wilder with more fun. Some parents and kids kneaded the plums together by hand, and used wood hammers to crack the green plums. The atmosphere on the site was full of warmth.

    County Magistrate Lin Ming-chen gave his oration and indicated that the Nantou County Plum Festival managed by the farmer’s association of each place of origin has become a famous agricultural promotion activity nationwide. Thousands of people making plums DIY-style together was the essential part and was deeply appreciated by the public. Every year the online registration is fully booked. This year, in addition to the 1,500 people registered for the DIY plum making event, the visitors and buyers purchasing plum products were over 2,500 people, making it an unprecedented occasion.

    The Director General of Sinyi Township Farmer’s Association Huang Zhi-hui indicated that from the end of March, it’s the harvest season for plums. This year, the online registration was fully booked within a very short time. In order to make more people experience the fun of DIY making pickled plums, there were two additional sessions offered for people to register on-site and that made a total of 1,500 people. The DIY was proceeded in 3 sessions. There were plum cuisines ready for people to enjoy. The authentic mountain pork barbecue was also at the site for people to taste. The event with music performances became a splendid occasion.

    The Department of Agriculture of Nantou County Government indicated that in addition to the opening ceremony on March 25th, there were other activities including a plum-making activity held by Renai Township Huzhu Elementary School on April 4th; agricultural product sales promotion held in Qingliu; Zhongyuan and Meiyuan tribes and performances including aboriginal traditional DIY weaving, head-hunting culture, husking rice with a pestle; and traditional song and dance were waiting for your join. The DIY pickled plum-making experience activities are held by the Farmer’s Associations of Nantou County, Gouxing Township, Renai Township, Shuili Township, Sinyi Township Farmer’s Association and other places of the nation to make our fellow countrymen know more about the green plum industry and fall in love with plum products. On May 5th, a thousand-strong fun picnic activity will take place at the Mei Agriculture Leisure Area located in Shangan village, Shuili Township. There are large DIY Enzyme plum-making activities and drum performances welcoming people’s participation with enthusiasm.
