The mayors and magistrates of Taichung-Changhua-Nantou-Miaoli attended a summit meeting, reaching 33 proposals
The mayors and magistrates of Taichung-Changhua-Nantou-Miaoli attended a summit meeting was held on April 13 at Nantou County Government. County Magistrate Lin Ming-chen of Nantou, Mayor Lin Chia-lung of Taichung, Magistrate Hsu Yao-chang of Miaoli County, and Deputy Magistrate Lin Ming-yu of Changhua attended the meeting with the administrators from different departments of their counties and cities. In the meeting, they completed 33 proposals, including 17 items that required assistance from the central government and 16 newly appended proposals for cooperation plans among the four counties and cities.
Magistrate Lin expressed that the governing platform of Taichung-Changhua- Nantou-Miaoli has already accomplished its functions. The collaborative regional governing has already become an exemplar in Taiwan. It has already solved many common problems in the living circle in central Taiwan. The proposals raised by the four counties and cities will be forwarded to the central government seeking further assistance after mutual agreement in the meeting. They will promote and consolidate these schemes together. Magistrate Lin expects to add more bus stops for highway bus running along Freeway No. 3 so that the transportation network in Nantou will be prompter and more convenient. In addition, he expects the offices of the Legislative Yuan that rent spaces in non-governmental premises can be moved to office space in Zhongxing New Village to rejuvenate this area.
Mayor Lin also showed his support to the plan of rejuvenating Zhongxing New Village. He proposed his vision on reducing the pressure in the capital and central Taiwan first. In addition, the branch of MRT-Green Line will be extended to Changhua; MRT-Blue Line will be extended to Nantou; MRT-Yamanote Line will be connected with Miaoli. All these schemes endeavor to achieve the goal of building the Greater Taichung living circle. They will gather the forces of the four counties and cities to consolidate these policies.
Magistrate Hsu also expressed that in the latter half of this year, Miaoli will hold the National Games, cycling contest, road running, and other activities. He welcomes all to join these events. Deputy Magistrate Lin expressed that regarding the issue of reducing the pressure in the capital; Taichung first, Changhua has already prepare the land in the HSR zone for fulfillment of this plan. Collaborating with Taichung, they will secure support from the central government.
The Central Taiwan Government Platform has completed 224 proposals over the past 3 years. The accomplishing rate is as high as 85%. In this meeting, the proposals include the entry at central Taiwan in the tourism market of the New Southbound Policy, collaboration to hold the Hakka open challenge in central Taiwan, the establishment of joint air pollution response platform, and more. All of them highlight the importance of cross-county and city collaboration.
