The construction of the service road at the riverbed of the lower-stream of Jilu Bridge completed. It solves years of troubles in the neighborhood
Nantou County Government completed building the service road for dump trucks at the riverbed at the north bank of Zhuoshui River, solving the controversy of contamination caused by dump trucks in Mingjian Township for years finally. On April 25, the opening ceremony for the service road at the lower-stream of Jilu Bridge was held by the service road under Minju Bridge. In addition to listening to the briefing, County Magistrate Lin Ming-chen also prayed with the guests to request for blessing smooth opening of the road and safety transportation on it. They cut the ribbon together later. County Magistrate Lin expressed that dump trucks running along Route Tai-16 and Route Tai-3 have created the problems of traffic safety and air contamination. For years, it has been troubling the folks living at Zhuoshui Village and Xinmin Village in Mingjian Township. When he was still a law maker, he began to search for solutions to the problems. He felt glad that with the help of The 4th River Management Office and local people, finally, he had completed the building of a service road on the riverbed at the north bank. Inhabitants along the road no longer will be troubled by these problems again. Deputy Director General Wang Ching-feng of The 4th River Management Office pointed out that the frequent running of dump trucks on Route Tai-16 troubled inhabitants living along the routes badly. The county government is willing to build a service road for dump trucks at the north bank with reference to the model of building a transportation road for dump trucks at the south bank in 2008 in order to decrease the impact of dump trucks on local environment and transportation. It can also help alleviate the transportation of dump truck in this area. Indeed, it is a win-win policy. This riverbed service road construction project is 11.5km long in total, with the construction fees of NT$ 41.2 million. The county government was responsible for about NT$ 37 million of the expenditure. As the service road is completed, it will be opened to dump trucks from gravel plants running along Route Tai-16 from February 1. They can take the service road at 4.5k on Route Tai-16. The service road will connect with Changhua County directly or the Freeway No. 3 via the industrial road, preventing dump trucks entering the downtown area at Mingjian Township. The Department of Public Works, Nantou County Government explained that the construction starts from 4.5k on Route Tai-16 (Jiji Gravel Site) (0K+000) and connects with Mingju Bridge in the middle (3K+700) and Changhua County border (10K+500) at the lower-stream. The total length is 10.5km. The 4th River Management Office connects the road from the county border to Ershui Rail, with the total length of 1km. In total, the service road is 11.5km long. Starting from March 14, 2018, it will be opened on a trial basis in the county. After completion, the service road will connects Nantou County and Changhua County, alleviating the transportation pressure of dump trucks running in this area.
