Nantou County Government Secured NT$40 Million Budget off the Forward-Looking Infrastructure Plan for County Road No. 139 B Improvement
On May 1, Lin Ming-Chen County Magistrate of Nantou County, accompanied by Chen Xi-Wu, director of Nantou County Government’s Public Works Department, inspected many alleys and farm lanes in Mingjian Township’s Xinguang Village and Xincu Village. Lin stated that the County Government had strived and secured a budget of NT$40 million off the Forward-Looking Infrastructure Development Program, and the budget will be spent on improving Mingsong Road on the County Road No. 139B, (i.e. from Songboling Nantou Route No. 42 to Provincial Highway No. 3), the entire length of engineering road work stretching approximately 6.8 km.
Regarding the County Road No. 139B, Legislator Xu Shu-Hua, County Councilor Yu Xiu-Ying and many village chiefs were present to show concern and were informed at the road improvement plan briefing held on Mingsong Road. County Magistrate Lin stated that given the help of Legislator Xu, the County Government had strived and secured the NT$40 million off the Forward-Looking Infrastructure Plan for this road improvement plan. Of the budget, NT$8 million is the County Government’s in-kind matching funds, currently in the process of subcontracting.
The road improvement plan consists of 4 major sections: improving the AC road surface along the roads; irrigation for floods-prone sections of the roads; installations of cycling lanes and traffic signals/markings; landscape engineering works. The road length measures 6.8 km in total. It is believed that upon completion, tourists/visitors and ShouTian Temple pilgrimage goers will be served with a safer and more comfortable road which will effectively enhance the tourism and the convenience of agricultural transportation in the Mingjian region.
For a morning inspection, County Magistrate Lin Ming-Chen visited 2 spots of the AC road surface improvement work on Lane 220, Section 2, Mingshan Road in Xinguang Village. The total road improvement measures approximately 470 meters in length and requires a budget of NT$1 million. Regarding the alleyway improvement work within Lane 96 on Zhangnan Road and farm lanes by No. 422 on Xincu Section in Xincu Village and by Nantou County Road No. 31, County Magistrate Lin agreed on the spot after inspection that the Public Works Department would immediately contract out the construction work.
Owing to the local demand for infrastructure construction, County Magistrate Lin said that as long as it is in line the public interest and the everyday needs of the locals, the County Government would implement the improvement as soon as possible. In particularly, many alleys and farm lanes in Mingjian Township have not undergone any renovation for several decades resulting in damaged surfaces. As agricultural transportation and road safety of the general public hinge on this (i.e., road conditions), the County Government would do its best to raise funds for improvement so as to enhance convenience and safety in traffic for the locals.
