On July 12, the Nantou County Police Bureau had a new police vehicle granting and reviewing ceremony at the county gymnasium, which was hosted by County Magistrate Lin Ming-chen. A total of 30 vehicles were purchased, including 14 patrol cars, 9 detective cars, 6 service cars and 1 guard car, with a total funding of NTD$22 million. Deputy County Magistrate Chen Zheng-sheng, Councilors Wu Guo-chang, Zhuang Wen-bin, Jian Jun-ting, Zeng Zhen-yan and several senior executives of the county government all were present at the ceremony.

Good craftsmanship depends on the use of the right tools. County Magistrate Lin said that although the county government's finances are not plentiful, in order to protect the safety of first-line personnel and to maintain public security, a budget of NTD$12 million is allocated and another NTD$10 million is additionally added up for vehicle purchasing. The old vehicles of more than 10 years should be replaced. The well equipped police officers are able to perform their duties more securely, thus the people's lives and properties can be well protected. In addition, under the financial permit, the police and fire-related equipment will be continuously improved to ensure the safety of the personnel in duty.

At the ceremony, County Magistrate Lin granted the vehicles to the Director-general of the Police Bureau, Chiu, Kuan-yu, as a representative, and took a group photo with all the participants. Subsequently, County Magistrate Lin was accompanied by the distinguished guests to review the vehicles one by one, and thanked the police for their efforts. He expected that the police on duty should not only guard against the safety of the people's lives and properties, but also pay attention to themselves. After the review, the police officers of each branch drove out the newly purchased vehicles one after another. The scene was spectacular.

Wu Guo-chang, the Councilor and the Chairman of the Friends of the Police Association, said that he was grateful to County Magistrate Lin’s sympathetic care towards the police at the grass roots. He has traded new good for old on police motorcycles and cars in the past two years, in order to ensure the safety of officers and police, as well as to increase the efficiency in combating crime and maintaining society's safety and the quality of living environments. Director-general Chiu said that last year, NTD$22 million was spent on replacing police motorcycles. This year, police cars will be replaced and will be distributed to eight branches in the county. The results of last year's efforts will be upheld and a better secured environment will be sustained.
