The Nantou Dark Sky Festival began on June 8 afternoon at the Small Swiss Garden of Qingjing Farm. The Nantou County Government has arranged a range of activities, including the stargazing, Dark Sky Hero tournament, the dark sky market and so on. The festival attracted many visitors to heat up the celebration for the passage of the certification of the International Dark Sky Park on Mt. Hehuan.
Dark Sky Hero is a game tournament for the public to learn about plants. In the daytime, the Nantou County Government has prepared virtual reality (VR) equipment for the public to see the starry, starry night even in broad daylight. When night falls, the Nantou County Government has arranged high-power telescopes onsite for the public to gaze at the stars and explore the universe.
The festival began with a star-theme concert featuring a flute quartet playing the main theme and other soundtracks of Star Wars. In the open air, the public sat on the ground beneath the starry sky and enjoyed musical performance relaxingly with fun.
The native Sileq Aboriginal Cultural Art Group brought about indigenous folk dances to spread the passion of indigenous peoples. There was also “Big Bird Storyteller” telling the story of the moon in a dramatic setting.
