At 05:30 on June 16 in front of the Chung Hsing Hall at Chung Hsing New Village, 5,000 runners have gathered together, warming up for the 2019 Chung Hsing New Village Half Marathon—Meet at the Old Place organized by the Taiwan Road Running Event Services Association. At 06:00 sharp, Deputy Magistrate Cheng-sheng Chen and honorable guests fired the gun for contestants to run for their health.
Deputy Magistrate Cheng-shen Chen, Nantou County Councilor Chen-yen Tseng, and Director Yun-yu Chen of the service office of Legislator Shu-hua Hsu participated in the opening ceremony and the starting command and cheered up all contestants. According to Deputy Magistrate Chen, sports promote the public’s health and reduce government medical expenditure. He hopes that the event can promote sports and heat up sports tourism in Nantou.
Deputy Magistrate Chen added, the cross-lake swimming, cycling, and road running events held at Sun Moon Lake are often “full” immediately after the registration begins. The registration of the cross-lake swimming this year will begin on June 25. Those who want to join the event must act fast.
