The deity patrols and inspects the neighborhood to protect people’s safety as well as promote road safety. Deputy Magistrate Chen Zheng-sheng wore a huge safety helmet to promote road safety along the street. Alongside, the parade and show boxes presented the deity’s blessings, innovating the method of road safety education. It caught people’s attention, encouraging them to collect road safety promotional materials.

Chen Zheng-sheng said that to promote road safety to people, the county government collaborated with Pei Tian Gong – City God Temple of Nantou City to patrol along the street at night. The road safety promotion team joined the deity’s parade, with 2 heavy-weight motorcycles from the police station to lead the team. There were more than 60 volunteer guards from the Nantou City Chiahe Community Security Patrol Team, Aixin Charity Association, and more. They worked together to educate senior people with the proper ideas of road safety and also encouraged people to take care of seniors’ safety by constructing a pedestrian-friendly environment.

Nantou County is becoming an aging society. According to the statistics of the Ministry of Transportation and Communication, regarding the number of deaths in traffic accidents, 1 out of 4 are senior people above 65 years old. To remind people of senior people’s road safety, the county government took the lead to collaborate with the temple fair and volunteers from communities to promote traffic safety. Most of the traffic accidents happen to senior people mostly in the morning and evening, when it is dark. Senior people tend to do their exercises in these hours. It is necessary for them to wear clothes in bright colors or with fluorescent strips to alert people’s attention. More importantly, they must cross the road according to the traffic signs to ensure their safety.
