    After the performance of “Nirvana & Youth” performed in 2000 in Chung Hsing New Village and “Legacy” in 2003 at Puli Junior High School, the Cloud Gate performed at an outdoor venue in Nantou again after 16 years. Co-sponsored by the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Nantou County Government, the “Lin Hwai-min 45th Anniversary Gala” was held at Nantou County Stadium at 7:30 pm on the 20th. It was also the last outdoor performance of Lin Hwai-min, the art director before his retirement. It attracted more than 10 thousand people to watch his show. Magistrate Lin Ming-zhen and Mrs. Lin also attended this international-class gala. Magistrate Lin expressed that he would like to thank Cathay Financial Holdings for its support to make possible this marvelous international class performance of Cloud Gate to be held in Nantou, presenting local folks such a feast of art.

    Lin Hwai-min pointed out that it was the 2,431st show of the Cloud Gate. If there is no dancer to give blood and soul to the performance, dance art will not exist. “Lin Hwai-min 45th Anniversary Gala” is the excerpts of the dances over the past years. It was also the farewell performances of many senior dancers, including, Zhou Zhang-ning, Yang Yi-jun, Cai Ming-yuan, Huang Pei-hua, Su Yi-ping, Wang Li-Xiang, Lin Xin-fang, Ke Wan-jun, Huang Mei-ya, and more. It was the last time for them to perform outdoors. The choreography included Moon Water, Rice, and White Water, which were well-praised works, as well as the excerpts from the old titles that hadn’t been performed for a long time, such as Portrait of the Families, Cursive, Pine Smoke, Bamboo Dream, Wind Shadow, and How Can I Live On Without You.
