The Representative of Czech Economic and Cultural Office in Taiwan visited Nantou. Deputy Mayor invited to participate in the Tea Expo and Nantou Lantern Festival enthusiastically.
Mr. Patrick Rumlar, the representative, and Ms. Eva Pigová, the Chief of Economic and Trade Section of Czech Economic and Cultural Office visited Nantou County Government on the 23rd. Accompanied by Director-General Wu Yan-ling of the Department of Civil Affairs, Deputy Mayor Chen Zheng-sheng received the guest at the Mayor’s office. As they visited Nantou for the first time, Deputy Mayor Chen invited them enthusiastically to participate in the Tea Expo to be held in October. He hoped to make the visit of Czech cultural and artistic performance groups to perform in Nantou Lantern Festival possible to promote dual recognition and cultural exchange.
Deputy Director Chen expressed that Nantou is willing to communicate and exchange with different countries around the world. He would like to welcome Mr. Rumlar to visit Nantou and felt optimistic for the exchange between them regarding economics, culture, education, tourism, and more. He would like to offer help to promote mutual understanding and interaction. Deputy Mayor Chen also invited Mr. Rumlar to participate in the Tea Expo to be held in October in Nantou to better understand and experience the tea culture in Nantou. Regarding Nantou Lantern Festival, he also hoped to invite cultural and artistic performance group from Czech to perform cultural shows in it. With actual cultural exchange and performances, it is believed to promote mutual exchange.
Mr. Rumlar expressed that the office has sponsored concerts, film festivals, and artists-in residence, writer-in-residence, and other activities in Taichung, Chiayi, Tainan, and more to allow more Taiwan friends to understand Czech better. If there is the opportunity, he would like to collaborate with the universities and colleges in Nantou to sponsor lectures on culture and tourism or concerts. In each year, Czech offers the quota of 200 exchange students and working holiday to young people in Taiwan. In tourism, economics, and trade, he hopes to have more frequent exchanges. Regarding to inviting performance groups to participate in Nantou Lantern Festival, Mr. Rumlar said it will be a wonderful collaboration and will endeavor to make this happen.
