    To honor the teachers’ contribution in education, Nantou County Government sponsored the “2019 Teachers’ Festival Commendation” at Nan Dou Hall on the 24th, with 559 brilliant teachers honored. Mayor Lin Min-zhen presented the Excellent Teacher Awards and the MOE Outstanding Senior Teacher Awards to the winners in person. Among the winners, Principal Wu Bi-xia of De Xing Elementary School won both the Excellent Teacher Award, Outstanding Teacher Award, and Senior Teacher Award with her 40 years of contribution in education, being one of the few to win all three awards together. Indeed, she is the exemplar in education.

    The ceremony began with the performance of Mingjiang Elementary School Recorder Team. In the commendation, there were principals and teachers of schools at various levels, social groups, and teachers from tutorial schools, including 3 teachers winning the Excellent Teacher Awards (Principal Wu also won the MOE Excellent Teacher Award), 2 teachers winning MOE Outstanding Teacher Awards, 2 institutions winning the group category of Outstanding Teacher Awards, and many teachers winning the Senior Outstanding Teacher Awards, including 38 teachers served for 10 years; 185 teachers served for 20 years; 61 teachers served for 30 years; and 5 teachers served for 40 years. In addition, there were 220 brilliant teachers elected from different schools, 25 brilliant teachers in special education, and 6 from private tutorial schools, and 6 brilliant special education personnel, with the total of 559.

    Mayor Lin expressed that the Teachers’ Festival is coming. The commendation was held to express gratitude to senior and brilliant teachers dedicated to education and to thank the teachers for their selfless dedication. Nantou County Government emphasizes education highly. When schools need to upgrade their hardware and software facilities and maintain their equipment, Nantou Government is enthusiastic to give full support. At the same time, it also works to promote education in remoter areas and narrow the gap between countries and cities. The mayor also encourages principals to be the leaders to lead section chiefs and teachers to perform their work brilliant and teach students with love. Hopefully, it will cultivate more and better talents for Nantou County.
