Public transportation service is upgraded in Nantou to satisfy people’s need for mobility. After the operation of community bus in north Zhongliao, community buses will begin to operate in December 2nd. On the morning of November 27th, a launching ceremony was held in front of Zhongliao Township Office. Deputy Magistrate Chen Cheng-sheng, Township Mayor Liao Yi-hsien, Deputy Director Huang Yun-kuei of Directorate General of Highway, MOTC, councilor Tang Hsiao-fen and Tsai Ming-hsuan attended the ceremony to celebrate with Zhongliao folk.
As the 3 bus routes operated by Changhua Bus will cease to operate at the end of November, with the coordination of Nantou County Government, Directorate General of Highway, MOTC approved to subsidize the purchase of a Class B bus to provide transportation service as a part of the “Multidimensional Promotion Plan of Public Transportation – Happy Bus Project.” The Directorate General of Highway, MOTC subsidized 90% of NT$ 2.63 million in purchasing the buses. The remaining 10% of the fund was shared by Nantou County Government and Zhongliao Township Office at 5% each. The bus service will be launched in December to solve the inconvenience problem of transportation after Changhua Bus terminates its service.
Deputy County Magistrate Chen pointed out that Magistrate Lin Ming-zhen of Nantou County is concerned about the transportation issue in remote areas in the county, especially, the township roads and county roads in Zhongliao Township have been broadened and repaired. He would like to thank the Directorate General of Highway, MOTC and Motor Vehicles Office for their help in the public transportation in Nantou. After the trial operation of the happy bus, future operation plan will be decided to satisfy the local folks’ needs for transportation.
