    In the morning on the 8th, Magistrate Lin Ming-zhen of Nantou County attended the 2019 Nantou Laborers’ Sports Day to cheer the participants on. Magistrate Lin encourage laborers to exercise more to stay healthy so that they can perform their best in the workplace and bring happiness to their families.

    Magistrate Lin expressed that today was a big day for workers in Nantou. There were 1,200 workers in 36 teams gathering together. They conducted exchanges and associated with each together with sports in this meaningful event. Workers are the basic building blocks of the economy, the driving force of economic growth. Laborers contribute with all their effort at the grassroot level so that we can enjoy the best results of economic construction and share the profits of economic growth. Therefore, the laborers’ welfare should not be neglected. Their rights and welfare must be safeguarded. In the future, the county government will continue to give laborers full support by consolidating labor administration works. Creating a safe, healthy, and quality work environment helps safeguard laborers’ rights and promotes their welfare.

    This Laborers’ Sports Day was held by the Nantou County Labor Union. In addition to tug-of-war, and time-trial by age group, there were also contests that emphasized team collaboration for all age groups, including “recollection of childhood” (iron ring rolling), “natural born athlete” (ping-pong fetching with chopsticks), “stacked cup fun,” “hit the target,” “legacy,” “Chasing Girls,” “wood balls,” and other interesting games. All the participants, including male, female, young, and senior workers, had opportunities to stretch their bodies. On the side, there were booths of the Bureau of Labor Insurance, Ministry of Labor, Nantou Post Office, and more providing laborers’ information. The event was lively and happy.
