    Nantou Carnival – In Search of Plum Blossom commenced on the 22nd in Dream Works of Mei in Xinyi Township. Magistrate Lin Ming-zhen, Legislator Hsu Shu-hua, Councilor Chuan Wen-tsai, Mayor Chuan Chi-chien of Xinyi Township Mayor, and the Former Director of Chen Chi-ching of Council of Agriculture, and thousands of people gathered in this event to enjoy themselves.

    Hosted by Magistrate Lin, the opening ceremony for In Search of Plum Blossom commenced. Magistrate Lin presented the table of the outstanding awards to Lai Chien-chih, the winner in the Oolong tea category in the High-altitude Excellent Winter Tea Contest. He also invited people in Taiwan to visit Xinyi Township to enjoy hot spring spa, watch plum blossoms, and experience Bunun culture. When the activity began, students from Xinxiang Elementary School were invited to perform the traditional war-winning announcement ceremony of Bunun tribe and Bunun’s eight-part polyphony to bless the blooming of plum blossoms and a good harvest of agricultural products in this year. Lee Ching-chi Dance Company performed folk dances symbolizing flowers blooming all over the land to demonstrate the magnificent landscape of Xinyi Township. In the venue, Xinyi Farmers’ Association prepared a good food party for a thousand people. It attracted about 2,000 visitors from different places to taste the gourmet food. The event was grand and happy.

    Magistrate Lin said in this year’s Winter Solstice, it was the temple’s anniversary hold every 12 years. Rainfall had been plenty, nurturing the land and all things. In this year, plum blooms will bloom wildly in Nantou. Due to the weather factors, it is expected that the flower blooming season will be about 10 days later than usual. Visitors from different parts of Taiwan are welcome to visit Nantou to watch plum blossom and relax themselves. Magistrate Lin expressed that starting from today until the Lantern Festival, there will be exciting events coming in Nantou. From the hot spring season which commenced earlier to the opening of Nantou Carnival, there will also be the Xinyi Christmas Party, Nantou and Cingjing New Year Countdown Party, 2020 Nantou Lantern Festival, Fire Dragon Show, and more. These events will accompany visitors to spend the New Year holiday with happiness. After the Lunar New Year, Xinyi Twin-dragon Rainbow Bridge will be opened very soon. It is likely to boost the tourism in Xinyi Township.
