    Magistrate Lin pointed out that due to severe international pandemic, many local residents at Shuanglong, Xinyi Township, are afraid that the opening of Shuang Long Suspension Bridge may attract numerous external tourists and greatly increase the danger of COVID-19 entering the tribe. Therefore, they wanted the county government to postpone its opening. After discussing this issue with related department and local residents, the county government decided to take local opinion and infection prevention into consideration, and cancelled the original plan of opening the Shuang Long Suspension Bridge on April 1.

    Magistrate Lin also stressed that the suspension bridge is currently closed. Given that it is not officially opened, no personnel are stationed there for monitoring. There were some citizens who went there on their own and climbed onto the suspension bridge regardless of the danger, which is an extremely inappropriate action. Besides continuing to shut down the suspension bridge, the county government will also add signs to warn citizens not to trespass onto the suspension bridge before it is officially opened.

    Moreover, as for the coming annual Nantou County Plum Festival, Magistrate Lin mentioned that the large activity of the “Thousand-People Plum DIY Making” will be cancelled due to infection prevention and will be changed into several echelons of smaller scale experience activities. Other sterilization and infection prevention measures will also be strengthened during the event.
