In order to assist workers who are unable to work steadily due to the epidemic to get through the tough time, Nantou county government cooperated with the Ministry of Labor’s “Relief and Just-In-Time Work Project.” The county government agencies, schools and public offices will successively release 641 part-time job openings. The county government conducted interviews for the first batch of 37 people at the 1st floor lobby on the 20th, and the admitted laborers can start working as soon as April 24th.

County magistrate Lin said that the “Relief and Just-In-Time Work Project” is a short-term part-time job in the public sector. Laborers mainly assist in epidemic prevention work. In addition to supplementing the lack of manpower for epidemic prevention, it can also help laborers ease the impact of the work break; it is expected to help laborers get through the tough time.

County magistrate Lin pointed out that the monthly working hour limit for this project is 80 hours, the hourly wage is NT$ 158, the monthly income can be up to NT$ 12,640, and the maximum period of employment per person is 6 months. The project could provide some assistance to laborers who were forced to take breaks from work. Lin also suggested that the central government can revise the application conditions and relax the restriction that within 6 months before the date of application for registration, the applicant must have at least two months’ insurance enrollment, so that more laborers for short-term jobs can have the opportunity to come to work.
