    In order to express gratitude to laborers, Nantou county government held the “Nantou 2020 Annual Model Workers’ Commendation Assembly” at the Honglu Restaurant in Nantou City on the eve of the “International Workers’ Day” on the 30th. A total of 95 model workers from all walks of life were recognized and nominated. Deputy magistrate Chen Cheng-sheng especially presented the award, and on behalf of county magistrate Lin Ming-zhen, offered gratitude to all the laborers for their hard work and contributions to the economic development of Nantou and various industries.

    Due to the epidemic, the event adhered to the principle of social courtesy. Apart from awarding and taking group photos, each award-winning model worker wore a mask and maintained a safe distance. Deputy magistrate Chen and Counselor Tseng Cheng-yen, the chairman of the Nantou County Federation of Labor Unions, presented the trophy to all the winners in order. Legislator Hsu Shu-hua, county councilors Lai Yen-hsueh and Lin Fang-yu, the director of the Department of Social and Labor Lin Chih-chung, the director of Taiwan Historica Chang Hung-ming, the director of the Nantou Office of the Department of Labor Insurance Chen Yen-hui, and the general representative of the 40th branch of the Taiwan Power Labor Union Chang Wen-tsan, also attended to pay tribute.

    Deputy magistrate Chen said that laborers are the driving force for the overall development of the country. Taiwan is able to achieve the stable economic development today because of laborers’ wholehearted dedication that they devote themselves to various professional works, and employers and laborers working together. The government attaches great importance to laborers. Affected by the epidemic, laborers and enterprises in the country are having a tough time. Fortunately, Nantou’s laborers and enterprises have a harmonious relationship and work together to overcome difficulties. The county government will continue to supervise enterprises to create a friendly workplace environment, protect labor rights and welfare, and hope that the relief projects the government has proposed can be helpful to everyone. Chen also hopes that everyone could return to their normal track after this cold winter comes to an end, and then welcome the arrival of spring.
