    Shuanglong Rainbow Suspension Bridge was grandly opened under numerous anticipations on June 20, while the “Ishingan” Tribe Tourism Carnival of the local Bunun people were also opened!     On June 20, Magistrate Lin Ming-zhen, along with Legislator Kung Wen-chi, Legislator Ma Wen-chun, Legislator Hsu Shu-hua, Director Hong Wei-hsin of Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area Administration, County Councilor Chuan Wen-tsai, County Councilor Hsiao Chih-chuan, County Councilor Chen Hsu-huei, Mayor Chuan Chih-chian of Xinyi Township, township councilors, village leaders, community presidents, chairman of the tribe committee and other local influential leaders attended the grand suspension bridge unveiling ceremony at the tourist information station of the Rainbow Suspension Bridge. The traditional Pasibutbut chorus of the Bunun people kicked off the ceremony as its astonishing heavenly singing touched all attending guests and tourists.

    Magistrate Lin pointed out that Shuanglong Rainbow Suspension Bridge has made the tribe hidden among the mountains well-known. He especially thanked Director Shih Chiang of the county government’s Department of Indigenous People that during his tenure as the township mayor, he suggested the building of this suspension bridge and the township office arranged the budget of NT$15 million for building it. After he and Shih Chiang experience the dangerous pipe bridge heading towards the waterfall in person, they received great support from Director Hung Wei-hsin of Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area Administration. Therefore, along with the county government, a total budget of NT$55 million was invested to build this beautiful and magnificent Rainbow Suspension Bridge after overcoming countless obstacles. Since the pre-selling of its tickets, more than 30,000 tickets have been sold for the coming 3 months. He is really confident that they not only could recover the investment soon, but could create a tourism business opportunity that is no inferior to the sky catwalk of Qingjing.

    Magistrate Lin also wanted the 3 attending legislators to aggressively help the county government in opening the ecological tourism of Rainbow Lake, one that is as beautiful as Heaven Lake of Changbai Mountain, enabling Rainbow Suspension Bridge and Rainbow Lake to collaborate and become the “Double Rainbows” of Nantou’s tourism. By doing so, they can really create brand new great tourism business opportunities of Xinyin Township in combination with tribal cultures, ecological education, and traveling itineraries.
