Nantou County Magistrate Lin Ming-zhen pointed out at the protest against Taichung Power Plant on June 30 that, since the 2nd and 3rd generator of Taichung Power Plant ceased to function from January, the air quality of central Taiwan, including Nantou County, has greatly improved. Blue sky, white clouds, green mountains and blue water once again appeared in their genuine appearance. He believed that all citizens of central Taiwan are determined to be against the re-generation of the 2nd fire power generator.
Magistrate Lin said that, “On behalf of the 500,000 citizens of Nantou County, I’m here to express my opposition.” The re-generation of the 2nd fire power generator will definitely worsen the air quality of central Taiwan and so we are against it. He wanted the Tsai administration of take the health of the 6 million population of central Taiwan into consideration and “Please do not allow the 2nd generator to operate by combusting coal again.” If the Taichung Power Plant insists on re-generating the 2nd generator, they will protest until the end!
