    At noon on the 11th, the National High School Athletics torch was passed to Nantou County. Deputy County Magistrate Chen Cheng-sheng led councilor Tseng Chen-yen, Director Lu Cheng-wei of Education Department of the county, the director generals of the county sports club and school representatives to greet the torch at the gate of the county government. The torch was passed from the torch captain of Pingtung County to Deputy County Magistrate Chen, and then to the county torch team – Zhong-xing Junior High School baseball team. They held the torch high and led the torch team as they passed it on. The process was simple and solemn.

    In Deputy County Magistrate Chen’s speech, he stated that he sincerely welcomes the torch of 2020 National High School Athletics to Nantou, and also wished for the county team to play well in National High School Athletics in Pingtung. He said that the county won 24 gold medals, 12 silver medals, and 22 bronze medals in the 2019 National High School Athletics held in Kaohsiung City, which is quite rare. Among these medals, the Karate team of Shiuhkuang Senior High School has won the championships in the senior high school group and junior high school group, and Caotun Junior High school and Hung Jen Junior High School have won gold and silver medals in judo and wrestling. This year, players of the county representative team are stronger than last year. They will demonstrate the Nantou people's perseverance and their outstanding skills, and shine in the playground. He hopes that players of the representative teams will go all out, break last year's record, and achieve another accomplishment to win glory for themselves and Nantou.

    Hung Ming-hui, Director general of the Nantou County Sports Association, said that with the joint support of the county government, council and the sports association, Nantou County has a strong sporting culture. Their sporting accomplishments are better compared to others in the country. Last year, under the players and coaches’ efforts, they created the best record in National High School Athletics in the past few years.
