After the wonderful performance of blessings by Yingpei Junior High School, President Chen, Deputy County Magistrate Chen and distinguished guests witnessed the historical moment of the opening of the Nantou Service Office of National Open University. President Chen emphasized that National Open University has grown against the trend in the wave of declining birthrates. The number of students has increased from 11,000 persons to more than 16,000 persons in 5 years, with a growth of nearly 50%. There are only about 300 students studying at National Open University in Nantou County. But after the establishment of the Nantou Service Office, which is equivalent to a branch of National Open University, it is hoped that within the shortest time, two one-thousandths of the 400,000 residents of Nantou County who are over 18 years old will be studying at the school; that is, that a goal of 800 or more people studying in National Open University will be reached.
Deputy County Magistrate Chen pointed out that the Nantou Service Office located in Yingpei Junior High School is essentially the Nantou branch of National Open University. It is equivalent to the third university in Nantou County. It has the advantage of being a transportation hub and is positioned as a digital model university for lifelong learning. In the future, it will surely realize the concept of further education and lifelong learning for Nantou County residents. By learning through online learning platforms, Nantou County residents who are studying at the University can more independently control their learning progress and time, and can also take care of their career, families and schoolwork. It can also alleviate the inconvenience of students from the Nantou area who have to commute to Taichung. Such lifelong learning resources are really rare. It is worthy of the county citizens to cherish and take a variety of exquisite and diverse professional university courses.
