Sacha Inchi Cooperative Factory Opened to Feel Optimistic on the Market Aug. 4
Sacha Inchi, also known as Inca Inchi, has become rapidly popular after being introduced to Taiwan a few years ago. Taiwan’s first Sach Inchi manufacturing cooperative was founded in Nantou County last year, and its factory was officially put into service on August 4 and is ready to enter the market. Deputy Magistrate Chen Cheng-sheng attended the opening ceremony with the expectation of providing farmers with more profit with this industry.
Given that Sacha Inchi demands low management cost and possesses a variety of applications, its planted area has greatly expanded. It has reached around 500 hectares of planted area throughout Taiwan, including more than 100 hectares in Nantou, spreading over 13 townships. Executive Secretary Tseng Ming-jui of Nantou County Farmers’ Association said that the future of Sacha Inchi is bright and he expected that it can replace betelnut yards.
Nantou County has founded its Sacha Inchi manufacturing cooperative. Targeting the citizens’ emphasis on cooking oil after the cooking oil incident, its market prospect has strengthened because it can be made into oil resembling camellia oil. It can also be made into protein powder, cosmetics, face masks and other cleaning appliances, thus enjoy high economic value.
Besides Deputy Magistrate Chen Cheng-sheng, Director Huang Chao-lang of the Health Bureau, Nantou City Mayor Song Huai-lin, Legislator Hsu Shu-hua, Legislator Ma Wen-chun, Legislator Luo Mei-ling, County Councilor Lin Fang-yu, and County Councilor Tseng Chen-yen attended the opening ceremony of Sacha Inchi Manufacturing Cooperative Factory. They hoped that the value of Sacha Inchi would continue to improve in the future and establish its market reputation to create a win-win situation for both farmers and consumers.
