    The 2020 Citizens Sports Games will be held in Hualien County. In the morning of October 7, the flame was carried to Nantou County. Hung Rui-chih, Secretary-General of the County Government, led the torch team composed of the baseball team from Chung-Hsing Junior High School to receive the flame at the gate of the Nantou County Government. Then, with the Director of Education Lu Cheng-wei and Executive-Secretary of Sports League Hung Ming-hui started running. Together they led the Nantou County torch team to carry the flame, symbolizing the team that will win the victory and achieve another success this year.

    Secretary-General Hung said, “the Citizens Sports Games will be held in Hualien County this year, lasting for 6 days from October 17. After the torch lit in Hualien County, Hsu Chuan-te, the Principal of Hualien County Jhong-Siao Primary School, led their torch team to pass the flame to Nantou County today.” The representative team from Nantou County has always performed very well in previous games. In the latest one, they won 2 gold medals (beach wrestling and kendo), 7 silver medals (tug-of-war and sports dance) and 4 bronze medals (yuanji dance and jiu-jitsu). The representative team this year is made up of 459 players selected from 13 townships, towns and cities from Nantou County. “I hereby encourage all the players to do their best to win the championship and win glory for Nantou County,” said Secretary-General Hong.

    Secretary-General Hung also indicated that during Magistrate Lin Ming-zhen’s tenure, Lin has attached great importance to education. For the promotion of sports, he compiled sufficient budget to upgrade both software and hardware. Over the years, the performances of each individual competition have leapt forward and achieved brilliant scores. He also gave generous encouragement to the athletes, hoping to cultivate their sportsmanship and strength through various competitions.
