The 68th Countywide Games was held from November 7th to 10th. 36 competitions, such as track and field, ball games and martial arts, were held at 24 venues including the Nantou County Stadium. The opening ceremony was held at the Nantou County Stadium at 9 am on the 7th. Magistrate Lin Ming-chen, as the chair of the Games, announced the official start of the sports meet. Lin said that although the economy this year has been affected by the pandemic, the development of tourism in Nantou County is still moving on. The Sun Moon Lake Swimming Carnival was a success with comprehensive preventive measures, boosting revenues in tourism in the county. The Nantou Global Tea Expo attracted 720,000 visitors, and the sales exceeded NT$ 170 million in just 10 days, which broke the record. We will begin preparations for next year's Nantou Lantern Festival and it is expected to attract a large number of tourists to Nantou. The opening ceremony was presided over by Magistrate Lin, who led the heads of the county government bureaus and 13 township offices into the stadium. The scene was magnificent. This year’s competitions consisted of 36 categories and the competition venues are located in 24 sports venues, including general competitions, adapted sports competitions and competitions for civil servants and faculty staff. 1,800 people, including referees, staff and performers and 13,723 staff as competitors have participated in the Games. The Games were organized by the Department of Education, Nantou County Government and was co-organized by various units and schools at all levels.
