Nantou County has a new hot spot! Dong pu, Xinyi Township, is a famous hot spring area in Nantou County. To present a new look for the hot spring area, the Nantou County Government has obtained a subsidy of NT$ 300 million from the ‘Forward-looking Infrastructure Development Program’ of the Construction and Planning Agency of the Ministry of the Interior, for the optimization of the landscape and the improvement of the roads. The county government also especially invited Taiwan top designer Hsiao, Ching-Yang to create a modern new landmark ‘Legend of the White Deer’ in the hot spring plaza based on the history and culture of Dong pu, presenting a new image of the Dong pu hot springs. The new hot spot opened on the 5th, the same day of the third event ‘Yushan x Dong pu Love’ of the Nantou Hot Spring Festival. Magistrate Lin, Ming-Chen said that he is grateful for the subsidy given by the Construction and Planning Agency to create a new landscape in Dong pu, including underground water pipes, road improvements, etc., especially the installation of streetlights on the road between Heshe and Dong pu, which makes it safer to travel at night. Dong pu is completely renewed after the overall project is completed, presenting a new atmosphere of tourism. Since the opening of the Shuanglong Rainbow Suspension Bridge in Xinyi Township in June, more than 160,000 people have visited there so far, boosting the local industries and tourism. In the future, the county government will continue to look into local demands and carry out related construction projects to increase Dong pu's tourism popularity.
