Nantou Flower Carnival—Xinyi Plum Blossoms in Snow event kicked off on the 20th at the Dream Works of the Mei of the Sinyi Township Farmers’ Association. Magistrate Lin, Ming-Chen, Legislator Ma, Wen-Chun, Councilor Chen, Shu-Hui, Xinyi Town Mayor Chuan, Chih-Chien, and Chief Secretary Chen, Chi-Jung of Agriculture and Food Agency, Taiwanese Singer Hsieh, Yi-Chun and 500 people made DIY hand-made pickles together with Xinyi Township's alpine cabbage. The scene was spectacular. Magistrate Lin and all town mayors enthusiastically invited people from all over the country to bring friends to Nantou to enjoy plum blossoms, taste tea and go for a nice hot-spring soak. The event was kicked off with the performances of the ManHui dance troupe and Taiwanese singer Hsieh, Yi-Chun. The dragon dance team of Nantou Ying Pei Junior High School also warmly welcomed the guests with a fantastic dragon dance performance. After that, Magistrate Lin and the distinguished guests also presented awards to the tea farmers who were awarded in the Winter Excellent Alpine Tea Appraisal Competition. The special prize was won by Lu, Jui-Hsiang this time. Magistrate Lin said that the annual Nantou Flower Carnival is going in full swing in various flower areas. The Xinyi Plum Blossoms in Snow event that people across the country have been looking forward to officially kicked off today. The plum blossom period this year is slightly later than in the previous years and is expected to blossom all at once in early January, presenting a sea of flowers.
