Nantou County Government safeguards cultural assets and residents' rights and interests while carrying out the Zhongxing New Village Revitalization Project, December 25
On the 25th, the 12th interim meeting of the 19th Nantou County Council focused on the protection of cultural assets and the development of Zhongxing New Village. According to Chung Hsing University’s assessment, a branch will be established in Zhongxing New Village. Magistrate Lin, Ming-Chen said that the county government has not yet received the official documents. He asked residents in Zhongxing New Village to rest assured that the county government will make proper planning of the space.
Magistrate Lin said that everyone hopes that the Zhongxing New Village can be revitalized. The central government has carried out inspection in the county many times. However, there are no specific plans for the relocation of Chung Hsing University and the revitalization plan of Chung Hsing Medical College and they will need to be reported to the council of Bureau of Cultural Heritage, Ministry of Culture for evaluation even after plans are confirmed in the future. Magistrate Lin said that schools and hospitals will be relocated near the workforce development agency and outside the residential areas. Also, the old dormitory area of Zhongxing New Village will be preserved as a cultural landscape area. For the plans proposed by National Development Council to rent out dormitories to attract entrepreneurs and develop various cultural and creative industries, art and culture, the county government will give its support as long as they are in line with the laws.
