In order to push ahead the sustainable development and product promotion of rural communities, and encourage young people to participate in rural affairs, the county government makes connections to special local industries based on rural life, production, ecology, and culture, leading rural community industries toward refined management and creating the ‘Exquisite Nantou’ image. After preparing for nearly a year, the results presentation and the ‘Golden Village Competition’ award ceremony were held at Qinqing Park in Zhongxing New Village on the 9th. County Magistrate Lin, Ming-Chen attended the ceremony to present the award, hoping that the winning community will achieve great results in the national competition on behalf of Nantou. The ‘Golden Village Competition’ is a national competition held every three years by the Council of Agriculture of the Executive Yuan. It is the largest competition among rural villages, and the competition is fierce in all regions. The competition is divided into two stages: county/city preliminary contest and national finals. The county preliminary contest started after the briefing on October 26, 2020. The county government encouraged participation of rural villages of Nantou County by guiding them to revive. A total of 86 rural villages participated, and after the first phase of the document review and the second phase of onsite visits and inspections, one gold, two silver, two bronze winners and six excellent communities were selected. Taomi Agricultural Leisure Area in Puli Township, which has won the gold medal, is a well-known ecological village in the country. It coexists with frogs, butterflies, and other ecological communities in a friendly way; two communities won the silver medal: Nan Feng Community of Ren-ai Township is dedicated to preservation of Seediq’s aboriginal culture and encourages young people back to their hometowns through industrial development, and Chu Tzu Shan Community of Puli Township has a rich cultural heritage, and the residents there had put on a historical play in the Nantou Cultural Center before; the Yen Zheng Community of Zhushan Township and the Yi Hsin community of Puli Township won the bronze medal; the excellent communities are Mei Agricultural Leisure Area of Shuili Township, Yongfu Community of Jhongliao Township, Jhongliao Community of Lugu Township, Yunglung Community of Lugu Township, Changya Community of Lugu Township, and Fushan Community of Nantou City.
