The 2021 Jiji Lantern Festival will be kicking off on the 23rd. The Green Tunnel Niu-Hu-Tien station took the lead to light up the lights at the ‘Green Tunnel Golden Art Light District’ on the evening of the 16th. County Magistrate Lin, Ming-Chen especially attended the lighting ceremony. He said that Jiji Green Tunnel is well-known throughout the country and is also a good place for cycling. The county government has especially subsidized the Jiji Township Office with NT$ 5 million to build a golden light corridor. People from all over the country are welcome to visit Jiji together. Enjoy the Green Tunnel during the day and enjoy the Golden Tunnel at night. The lighting event officially started after the wonderful Taiko performance by Ai-lao Elementary School. County Magistrate Lin, Jiji; Town Mayor Chen, Chi-Heng; and Director Chen, Chih-Hsien of the Tourism Department of Nantou County Government and others jointly launched the opening ceremony, making the beautiful light rhythm in the tunnel form a dreamy and romantic light show. Afterwards, the guests rode together to Longquan Station by bicycles in response to the 2021 Bicycle Tourism Year program by the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications, hoping that Jiji will regain its former glory of a bicycle tourism town. County Magistrate Lin said that with the assistance of Jiji Township Office, the Green Tunnel presents the beautiful light corridor tunnel at night once again. He believes that the Chinese Lunar New Year will attract many tourists to Jiji, which will drive the development of Jiji’s tourism. He appreciates Mayor Chen’s dedication and hopes that Jiji will be more prosperous every year.
